Franco Roscioli, a life for Skål International

Franco Roscioli, a veteran in the tourism business in Italy and Rome and Skål International Membre d'Honneur, passed away this morning after a long illness.

Franco Roscioli was the owner of the five 4* Roscioli Hotels; four linked to Best Western and one to Hilton. He was one of Rome's senior and most prestigious hoteliers, where his family started operating back in 1932.

Franco started his career in the family business in 1945, working up from a young trainee to President and Chairman's position.

His main hotel is the Hotel Universo, where, since 1950, Skål International Roma has had its official and legal Headquarters, one of the oldest Skål International Club H.O. in the world, and where the Club's regular activities and meetings are held.

He graduated from the prestigious Hoteliers Academy in Rome and then studied Hotel Administration at Cornell University of Ithaca, USA. He spoke four languages fluently, besides Italian.

Franco Roscioli, Skål International member for about forty years, has been President of the club for many years and then the Club Honorary President.

For forty years, he has attended almost all the monthly club Roma meetings, all the national Skål International Italy meetings as President of Skål International Roma, and participated in numerous Skål International Congresses worldwide. He was awarded the Skål International Membre d'Honneur in 2017 during the Hyderabad Congress.

Franco has great importance not only for Roman Tourism but also for Tourism in Italy. He has dedicated so much of his time and energy to maintain Skål International Roma in the foreground.

During his prolonged Skål International activity, Franco has worked daily to promote Skål International all over Italy and develop proselytism by helping to open most of the Skål International clubs in Italy.

Indeed no one has ever done so much for Skål International in Italy as Franco Roscioli.

The Skål International Roma Board, all the Directors, and Members are close to the Roscioli family in this sad moment. We all lost a hard-working professional and a pillar within the association.

Our warmest and deepest condolences to the family.

Skål
